Who this covers
This policy covers three groups of people:
- Customers. Businesses and agencies that run postcard campaigns with us, and the people who sign in to their accounts.
- Website visitors. Anyone who browses curbmailers.com, fills out our contact form, or uses the free preview tool.
- Postcard recipients. Households whose address is on a customer's mailing list, including people who scan the QR code on a card or call the number on it.
What we collect
Account and contact information
Your name, email address, phone number, business name, trade, website, and anything you tell us in a form or email. If you request a managed campaign we also ask about your expected campaign size and how you heard about us. If you have a dashboard account, we also keep your sign-in email and password, managed by our sign-in provider.
Business and campaign content
Your logo, brand colors, offer, call to action, the web page your QR code should open, and the card designs and choices you make.
Mailing lists and addresses
Addresses you upload or type in, including any names on the list, and addresses we prepare for you from property data and mailing list providers. We check each address for deliverability and keep the results (for example, whether an address can receive mail).
Property imagery
To show each household its own home, we look up a publicly available photo of the outside of the property, such as Google Street View imagery or a public property listing photo, or use a photo you upload. We use that photo only as a reference to generate a new rendering that shows the kind of work your business does. We never print or mail the original photos. Printed cards show generated renderings only.
Payment information
We keep records of the quotes, invoices and payments for your campaigns. If you pay an invoice by card through a payment processor's page, your card number goes to that processor, and we do not see or store full card numbers.
Free preview tool
If you use the free preview tool at /try, we collect the address you enter or the photo you upload, the rendering we make, your name, email and phone, whether you are a homeowner or a business, and the choices you tick, such as getting updates from us or allowing a local pro to contact you.
QR scans
Each postcard carries a unique QR code. When someone scans it, we record which card was scanned and when, plus the scanner's IP address, browser and device type, the referring page, and an approximate location (city, region and country) derived from the IP address. We use this to count scans for the customer who sent the card and to filter out repeated or automated scans.
Calls to tracking numbers
Some managed campaigns print a call tracking number that forwards to the business. For those calls we store the caller's number, the number called, and the time and length of the call. We do not record calls.
Website and device information
Our servers receive standard request information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. When you first arrive, the site stores in your browser, for that visit only, the page you landed on, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source). If you then submit a form, that information is sent with it so we know how you found us. We store a shortened, one-way hash of your IP address with preview tool submissions and count requests per IP address to limit abuse. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or third-party analytics on this website.
How we use information
- To design, check, print, mail and track the postcard campaigns our customers order.
- To verify addresses, find reference photos, and generate the rendering on each card.
- To quote and invoice campaigns and keep accounting records.
- To send campaign emails and alerts, such as mailing updates and QR scan alerts.
- To show customers how their campaign is doing, including delivery events and QR scans.
- To answer questions, follow up on campaign requests, and provide support.
- To prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and to protect our customers, recipients and service.
- To understand which pages and channels bring people to us and to improve the service.
- To send updates about CurbMailers if you asked for them. You can stop these at any time by replying or emailing support@curbmailers.com.
How the card images are made
The image on each card is a new rendering created with image generation services from Google. We send the reference photo of the property and instructions describing the work (for example, new landscaping or a new paint color) and receive a generated rendering back. Only the rendering is printed. Every card carries a note that the image is a visualization, not a photo of finished work.
We do not send names, email addresses or phone numbers to the image generation service as part of making an image.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with companies that help us run the service, with our customers as described below, and when required by law.
Service providers
- Lob verifies addresses and prints and mails postcards, and sends us delivery updates.
- Google provides Street View imagery, address search on the preview tool, and the image generation service described above.
- Twilio and HighLevel provide call tracking numbers and forward calls to the business.
- HighLevel is our customer relationship manager. It stores contact details and campaign activity and sends campaign alerts.
- Resend sends notification emails. Other email providers route and send our support mail.
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in system and file storage.
- Vercel hosts the website and app. Other hosting providers run background jobs and short-lived queues for us.
- Property data and mailing list providers help us build lists and find property details and publicly available reference photos for managed campaigns.
These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies, and only as needed to provide their service to us.
Our sales partner
We share leads from our contact form and preview tool, and campaign alerts such as QR scans and calls, with our sales partner, who helps us sell and fulfill done-for-you campaigns. Our sales partner uses this information to follow up with you and to run those campaigns.
Our customers
A customer sees the addresses on its own campaign, the cards mailed to them, delivery events, and scan activity for its cards. On managed campaigns with call tracking, the customer may also see call details. If you used the preview tool as a homeowner and ticked the box allowing a local pro to contact you, we may share your name, contact details, address and rendering with a local business that offers that service.
Other cases
We may share information if the law requires it, to protect people or our service, or as part of a sale or transfer of the CurbMailers business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to the information transferred.
If you received one of our postcards
CurbMailers mails postcards on behalf of local businesses. The business chose your area or provided the list, and the image on the card is a generated rendering of your home with that business's kind of work added. We use a publicly available photo of the home only as a reference and never print or mail that photo.
If you would like your address removed from the lists we hold, or want to ask about a card, email support@curbmailers.com with the address as it appears on the card. We will remove it from the lists we hold and stop using it for campaigns we prepare. A business may also keep its own list, so you may want to contact the business named on the card as well.
Customer lists and content
When a customer uploads a mailing list or other content, the customer decides who is on the list and what the card says. We use that information to run the customer's campaigns and do not use a customer's uploaded list to mail for any other customer. Customers are responsible for having the right to use their lists. Questions about why your address is on a business's own list are best sent to that business, and we will help where we can.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. In practice:
- Account and business information is kept while we work together and for a reasonable time after, so we can support past campaigns.
- Payment records and records of mailed campaigns (including the addresses that were mailed and the cards sent) are kept for accounting, tax and dispute purposes.
- Contact form and preview tool submissions are kept while we may follow up with you, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Your choices and requests
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for updates about CurbMailers. Email support@curbmailers.com from the address you used with us, or include the mailing address you are asking about. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we may keep some records where we need them for accounting, fraud prevention or legal reasons. If so, we will tell you.
Privacy rights differ from state to state. We respond to requests from anyone who asks, wherever they live.
Campaign emails and alerts are part of the service and are sent while you have an active campaign. To change which alerts you receive, email support@curbmailers.com.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If you think your account has been accessed by someone else, email support@curbmailers.com.
Where we operate
CurbMailers serves businesses in the United States and mails only to US addresses. Information is stored and processed in the United States.
Children
CurbMailers is a service for businesses and adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email support@curbmailers.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also let customers know by email or in the app before it takes effect.
